I tried what you suggested, nothing works ... I even reset the standard
toolbar to the default, the email icon appears greyed out. I am really
struggling, any other way to get rid of this thing? Many thanks for your

Recipient (appropriate variant) should do it. The E-mail button is standard,
so if you're not seeing it, either it's been removed (and you can restore
it), or you are not displaying the Standard and Formatting toolbars on two
rows, in which case you should be able to see the less-often-used buttons by
clicking the arrows at the end of the toolbar.
