Default Unwanted Email Attachments

I have created a document (with Word) with a picture in the document. Then I
do: File, Send To, Mail Recipient. When I look at the "Sent Items"
folder, it appears that it was sent just fine without an attachment. However,
when I look at my "Inbox" at the test email, it has an attachment of the
picture.

I want the email to be received with the picture in the email body and not
as an attachment. How do I do that?

This is usually a email client feature in my experience but I might be wrong.
I remember sometimes the email clients (Thunderbird etc.) have an option that
either allows you to keep files as attachemts or see them in the body.

As I recall it seemed to depend on the extension of the attachment which
files they keep as attachments and which ones they try to render inline.

You have no control over how (or whether) users view your HTML e-mails.
If you want to ensure that your message is read in the format that it was
sent, you need to send it as an attachment in PDF format, for which you will
need third party software (though Office 2007 does have a freely
downloadable PDF creating tool available).
