Hi I have problems to accommodate my table of contents in word.
1 Intorduction...................................... .................................................5 1.1 Intorduction into topic............................................. .....................5 1.2 Motivation und objective target............................................ .......6 1.3 Structure of the work.............................................. ...................... 7 The first item is given in my document. I want to create further sub-items. The problem is that the page numbers 5 in 1st and 2nd line and 6 and 7 at the right side are not straight lined. My question: Is there any function to create the dots after "topic", "target", "work" automatically that the page numbers at the end of every line are straight lined? Thanks in Advance Br Ugur |

Are you creating the TOC manually, by typing? If so, don't. Assuming that you
have been using heading styles consistently, you can add a table of contents which can be updated as you edit the document. On the other hand, if you are using Word's TOC feature, adjust the tab stop positions for the TOC styles. Since those styles, by default, are set to update automatically, you should be able to just drag the tab stops on the ruler into position. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "officeMan" wrote in message ... As Stefan says, the best way to create a TOC is to use Word's built-in
feature to do this (see http://www.ShaunaKelly.com/word/toc/CreateATOC.html). But if you continue to build it by hand, see http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/NumberAlignment.htm (Word 2003 and earlier) or http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/N...gnment2007.htm, as appropriate. -- Suzanne S. I confess that some of the documents I revise annually still have manual
TOCs because (a) the use of headings is haphazard (some headings are included, others at the same level not), and (b) the page numbers change only minimally from year to year. These documents are "yearbooks" of various societies that list the members, officers, committees, bylaws, etc. The originals were created many years ago (when I was less expert g), and revisions each year are minimal; going back and "doing it right" would result in no apparent difference in the end result but would cost the client a good bit more. -- Suzanne S. A very cool feature in word that allows you to insert with one click title, headings and table of content, and after that all you must do is write your content:
