Modifying Headings
I have a document with 8 heading styles. When I first set them up, the first heading was not indented nor did it have a hanging or single first line special; Heading 2 had a .25 indent and a .75 hanging special; Heading 3 a .5 indent and a .5 first line special.
When I now open the document, the indents and specials have all changed in the Heading styles, and I am forced to modify them each time I open the document to get them back to where they were originally. Any ideas how to fix this problem? |

Hi,

Any ideas how to fix this problem? Any idea which version of Word you are using? Check whether the option "automatically update document styles" is enabled in your document. -- Cheers, Lisa |

Shouldn't you say whether it would be better for it to be enabled or not to be enabled? |

Hi Peter,
"Peter T. Daniels" schrieb ["automatically update document styles"] Shouldn't you say whether it would be better for it to be enabled or not to be enabled? it depends on your purpose. In a company it could be a possibility to ensure corporate design. But if it is necessary to modify styles for a particular document, you don't want the option enabled. -- Cheers, Lisa |

Well, lloydkirk _doesn't_ want his styles to be changing all the time! |

Hi Peter,
"Peter T. Daniels" schrieb Well, lloydkirk _doesn't_ want his styles to be changing all the time! That's what I understood. And because his styles are always changing I suggested to check, whether "automatically update document styles" is enabled. Maybe that option causes the problem. -- Have a nice weekend Lisa |
