I have built the checkbox into tables for easy selection of values in a
production document. When I save this document and reopen on my own Windows XP machine the document opens in run mode. However, when I send this document to other users it always opens in "design" mode and opens the properties box rather than toggling the checkbox. How do I disable or lock the design mode for use in a production environment. |

The Control Toolbox ones are ActiveX controls, which trigger the macro-virus protection in Word in the same way that macros in the document would. When the macro security level (in Tools Macro Security) is set to High, macros and controls are silently disabled and the document opens in design mode. Set the security level to Medium, and Word will display a message box when you open the document, asking whether to enable or disable macros. (Setting the level to Low is not recommended.) When you send the form to other people, you'll have to include instructions about setting the macro security level (in Tools Macro Security) to Medium and clicking the Enable button in the warning box. The alternative is to use a protected form (which has its own drawbacks). -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org |
