I can't find the @ symbol from Insert / Symbol. Where can I find it. This
seems like a fairly common symbol. |

It is so common that it is on your keyboard. Hold down the shift key and

On a UK keyboard, that will give you . On such keyboards, it's somewhere

And if for some reason you *really* need to find it in the Symbol
dialog, it's just after the ? and just before the A in any font that uses letters (as opposed to decorative fonts like Wingdings).
