Hello --
I am working on an instruction manual using a numbered list. Some of the instructions use part numbers that contain a dash. When one of the instruction numbers breaks across a line (or page), it is breaking up the part number much like a hyphenated word. I would like these part numbers to stay together. If I select the paragraph, or the whole document and format to "Keep Lines Together," the entire numbered paragraph goes to the next page. Is there a way to keep just the immediate sentence together in a numbered list? Thanks! Eric |

What you need is called a 'non-breaking hyphen' - go to InsertSymbol, click
the Special Characters tab & you'll find it listed there along with its keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+_). If you have many of these to change you can use Find & Replace - In that dialog type a - in the Find what: field then click in the Replace with : field but don't type anything. Instead click the More button (if necessary), then click the Special button & select Nonbreaking Hyphen. Replace one at a time unless you are *absolutely* sure that there are no hyphens that shouldn't be replaced. -- HTH |:) Bob Jones [MVP] Office:Mac "Eric" wrote in message ...
