At the most basic, delete the empty paragraph that separates them. If this
doesn't work, make sure that the lower table has no rows defined as heading rows and that neither of the tables has wrapping set to Around. -- Suzanne S. Assuming that the number of rows in the two tables are same, do the following;

Try holding down the ALT key as you use the mouse to drag the column borders
