I have a word report generated by external software that is rediculously
long. There are portions of the report that we would like to remove. Below is a tiny snipit of how the report is set up: E13 GR 0.000 -0.002 -0.002 -0.011 0.010 -0.001 T1 -0.020 -0.033 0.001 0.002 -0.006 0.088 T2 0.011 -0.004 -0.004 -0.008 -0.001 -0.012 +1 GR 0.000 -0.002 -0.001 -0.010 0.009 -0.001 T1 -0.011 -0.029 0.000 0.002 -0.005 0.088 T2 0.010 -0.003 -0.003 -0.008 -0.001 -0.011 +2 GR 0.000 -0.002 -0.001 -0.009 0.009 0.000 T1 -0.002 -0.025 0.000 0.002 -0.005 0.087 T2 0.008 -0.003 -0.002 -0.007 -0.001 -0.010 E1 0.010 0.003 -0.002 -0.006 -0.004 -0.033 E2 0.006 0.001 -0.011 -0.039 -0.005 -0.021 E3 -0.009 -0.002 0.001 -0.002 0.007 0.029 ALL of the sections I want to remove begin with a "+" followed by a number. The actual number changes and the number of rows to remove are different depending on which section it exists in. The only ending parameter I can think of so far is an enpty line (two carriage returns in a row) before the next section begins. If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it. Otherwise I am going through a 6600 page report by hand. Thanks NHMM |

A wildcard replacement (explained at
http://www.gmayor.com/replace_using_wildcards.htm) can do this. In the Replace dialog, click the More button and then check the 'Use wildcards' option. Type this in the Find What box: +[0-9]*^13^13 (include a space character at the beginning of the expression if that actually occurs in your document the way it appears to occur in the sample you showed). Leave the Replace With box blank, and click the Replace All button. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit.
