I have LONG figure names in my document, and when there's a multi-line TOC
entry generated, it looks "messy" because the text seems to "crowd" the right-aligned page number. Is there a way to right-indent the lines of the TOC entry preceding the final one that contains the page number? |

Yes. Set a right indent in the TOC style, leaving the right-aligned tab for
the page numbers at the margin. The easiest way to do this, given that the TOC styles are set to update automatically, is to drag the right margin marker, but it's virtually impossible to do this without moving the tab first. Still, you can move the tab and then move it back. Or you can change it directly using Format | Paragraph. If you need to access the TOC style directly, recent versions of Word make this more difficult, but you can still see and select TOC 1, TOC 2, etc., in the Styles dropdown if you press Shift before clicking the down arrow. -- Suzanne S.
