while i was saving my written work in microsoft ward, i made such a big
mistake by giving it a same name of an old file. now i am trying to get an
old file back but i could not find it.
could you please tell me how can I get it back ?

Ouch!

If you're on a network and the file was saved to a network drive you can get
the file from the prior backup. If you're not on a network and you did not
back up your data, you can click on the START button on the TASk BAR, select
SEARCH, click FOR FILES OR FOLDERS, enter the name of file you're hopeing to
find and click the SEARCH NOW button.

If it shows up in some other directory you might have chance, otherwise
there isn't anything else that you can do.

Perhaps you'll start backing up regularly.

Before you again save anything with that file name...

Look in the folder (using Windows, not Word) for something that says Backup
of [my file].wbk
If you find something like that, change the name to have an extension of
..doc.
