Hi Guys and Girls
One of the users are complaining that Word documents don't always open at 100%,They are opening at strange percentages 144%,214% etc. Using the Veiwzoom tabs indicate it is set to open at 100% but this is not the case. (even after saving the doc) Is there something I'm missing? Thanks for your time. James |

Hi James
Word 2007 will always - a) Open a new document at whatever % you last saved a new document at b) Open an existing document at whatever % when it was last saved. Is this what your users are experiencing? James -- Skype Me! for tech support (james.vandermoezel). Hi James
Thanks for your response Even after saving the Doc's they still seem to open up at anything other than 100% does "Save" and "Save as", do two different Jobs, apart from allow re-naming? I'm asumming the Zoom pecentage is set at whatever the creator of the Doc had set it at? Thanks again. For the View magnification setting to be saved an edit needs to be registered
by Word. Try adding a space, change magnification, then save, then delete the new space, then save again. This should now have saved the viewing magnification. Also, to change the default viewing, find the Normal.dot and/or any other template you use, use File Open (not file double click) to open the actual template and do the necessary as above. Hope this helps DeanH "Uk Jay" wrote: Hi James Thanks for your response Even after saving the Doc's they still seem to open up at anything other than 100% does "Save" and "Save as", do two different Jobs, apart from allow re-naming? Hi Dean
Thanks for your response. I will give that a try, Hopefully that will do the trick. Is there are difference in double clicking the Doc to open it or using Fileopen? I read somewhere that double clicking it just opens a copy,is that correct? Thanks James "DeanH" wrote: For the View magnification setting to be saved an edit needs to be registered by Word. With documents, double clicking does not open a copy, but the document it self.
With Templates, double clciking opens a document based on that template, not the template itself, so if you want to change the template and any of its settings you must use File Open (or in Windows Explorer, right click, Open). Hope this clears the confusion. DeanH "Uk Jay" wrote: Hi Dean Thanks for your response. I will give that a try, Hopefully that will do the trick. Actually, all you have to do is change the Zoom, Spacebar, Backspace, Save
(or any other "phantom edit" that enables the Undo button; a Print Preview that updates fields will often serve). See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/SaveViewAndZoom.htm -- Suzanne S.
