Default Document Properties Won't Stick

I'm using Word 2002 to create .dot files for many users in my company. I use
the Comments field to input template details, e.g., created by me on date.

I have just noticed that templates I created in the last month (and
documents coming from these templates) won't retain the information in the
Comments field in Document Properties. It stays after Save, but doesn't stay
after the file is Closed. I'm having the same problem with Save Preview
Picture. All other properties stay.

What am I doing wrong? Have a changed a setting accidentally?

Help!
