Default Word 2007 - How do I permanently turn off track changes

I have been searching everywhere in Word 2007. I want to permanently turn
off track changes in my current document AND all future documents. How does
one go about this?

Personally, at this time I never want to see track changes again.

I reckon this can be done through VBA (hijacking every command that has
to do with TrackChanges). The gurus in any of the .vba newsgroups would
know more about this.

Before looking for a solution, you have to be very detailed about your
attempt. Do you want to make it impossible for you to activate tracking
in any of your documents? What about documents created elsewhere? What
about such documents that already are set to track, and/or have
unresolved changes?

Default Word 2007 - How do I permanently turn off track changes

Ideally, I would like to be able to shut it off.....and, then, if I need or
want to, turn it on again. Sort of like Word 2003 had in it tools (or
options, can't remember which).

Thanks.....I was hoping there was something simple that I was missing.
Apparently not!

nothing changed in that regard from 2003 to 2007. Track Changes doesn't
turn itself on.

What has changed over versions and SPs is what Word does when it opens a
document containing Tracked Changes. Nowadays, it shows them to you.
IMHO, that's a lot _better_ than hiding that there are some in it.

Not the big difference between
1. the document is *displaying* Tracked Changes -- or not, and
2. the document is *tracking* changes -- or not.

Too many users are turning off #2 without realising that they have not
resolved all Tracked Changes (probably the underlying reason why too
many customers/employers have stumbled over unresolved changes in
documents that have turned out to be pretty embarrassing for the sender.

This can still happen, but Word really pushes the fact into your face now.
