I recently purchased an Epson Stylus Photo R300 printer which has a USB
interface. I can print from all of my applications except Word 2002. The Print Status window indicates the job is 'spooling', but it never finishes. I have the latest driver from Epson. I also have another printer which has a parallel interface and that one works fine. Anybody have any ideas? |

I am having the same trouble. Have you found an answer to the problem?

FYI, I have contacted Epson and they were extremely helpful, but ultimately
we determined that the problem is with Word2002. I removed and re-installed the Word program on the off chance something in it had corrupted. This didn't help. I doubled checked and all the patches and updates for Word2002 have been installed, so that is not the issue. I also contacted Dell, who referred sent me to the printer "specialist" (and I use that term lightly) who was not at all helpful. I finally broke down and wrote microsoft and am currently awaiting their reply. Printer works great. Word2002 has always been a little flaky. I will let you know what microsoft has to say. Thanks for the info. I've gone through the same process and even talked to
the Dell software specialists, but not much help. I've asked Epson to actually try to use Word 2002 with the R300 printer to verify the problem. Perhaps they might be able to do something with their driver if they see the problem or work with Microsoft themselves as a developer. Let me know what you hear from Microsoft and I'll let you know if Epson comes up with anything. Not much help to you, but it should be noted that Word places great demands
on the printer driver which it uses to format and print the document. Ultimately the problem will almost certainly lie with the printer driver and until Epson updates the driver to produce a certified Windows driver I suspect you are going to have problems. A good place to start would be to check that you have the latest driver installed - http://esupport.epson-europe.com/Sof...609E8BB5116740 I can almost guarantee that Microsoft will refer you back to Epson ![]() -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org RichZ wrote: Thanks for the info. Well, I finally was able to print from Word 2002 using my Epson Stylus Photo
R300 printer! Basically, what I did was clean out the Windows XP Spooler directory and reloaded the driver. The process I followed was: 1. Go to Control Panel then Printer & Fax, and delete all printers. 2. Delete all Epson software from the system. 3. Backup the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SPOOL directory (just in case you need to recover something). 3. Delete everything under the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SPOOL directory. There was one file I couldn't delete because the system said another application was using it. 4. Reinstall the Epson R300 Driver and software. If you can print from your other applications, you probably already did the next step. 5. Go to the printer properties form via the Control Panel and Printer & Fax and right clicking the Epson printer. Select the Advanced tab and uncheck 'Enable Advanced Printer Function'. Hope this helps others with a similar problem. Thanks. I will give that a shot. I never did get a response from Microsoft.
Dell promised to have a specialist call, but never did. My solution has been to convert my files to Wordperfect 11 and print from that program. I'll let you know if I here anything else. I called Dell and they weren't much help. I had already tried everything
they suggested except reloading my operating system, and it cost me $35 dollars for the software support. There warranty and service is primarily for hardware. Software is only covered for 21 days. Big deal!! "DorothyB" wrote: Thanks. I will give that a shot. I never did get a response from Microsoft. Dell promised to have a specialist call, but never did.
