Default How do I change the default to NOT show markups for any file w

Please confirm how you think it can be disabled - I unchecked "Make hidden
markup visible when opening or saving" but it still opens with all the
changes tracked. The simplest way to turn it off document by document is to
deselect the markup icon on the view menu but this is a pain to do it for
lots of docs - any other ideas?

This is a universal setting. You can disable it once in Tools | Options |
Security, and it will be in effect for all documents.

"Why Word 2003 displays revisions and comments by default
To prevent you from inadvertently distributing documents that contain
revision marks and comments that you don't realize are in the document,

Word
2003 displays revision marks and comments by default. Word 2003 implements

a
new option, Make hidden markup visible when opening or saving, which is
turned on by default."

I HATE THIS! How do I turn it off without going through every single
document? Help!
