Default How to delete dotted line created after typing "###" then enter?

Word will automatically create a dotted line that extends from left to right
margin if you type "###" and then hit Enter. Now my problem is, how do I
delete this line? I can't select it with the drawing tool arrow. I can only
move it. If I select above and below the line and delete, the line does not
delete.
