Default Two Documents VERY SIMILAR - completely different size!

Hi

I have two documents which are EXTREMELY similar. Difference is one is 6
pages the other is 4 and the 4 page one contains a few more styles than the 6
page one. The 4 page one is about 700kb and the 6 page one is about 70kb!

I have stripped all formatting from the big one but when resaved - its still
HUGE!

If I copy and paste the text from the big one to notepad and back to a new
word document and save - the document then shrinks to about 70kb as expected.

Obviously I have a solution but want to know why????

We are using Word 2003

Thanks and regards

Sarah x
