Default Saved Word 2003 files will not open

Never a problem before, but I'm using Office 2003 on Windows XP Professional.
I try opening saved files and I get an error message, "(filename.doc) is not
available."

I've opened and saved a new document, but can't open it after it's saved and
closed in MS Word. I can save the file to a flash drive and open it on
another PC.

I've tried uninstalling Office and reinstalling it.

Any other ideas?

Marc
