This is the "owner file" created when you create or open a document. For

Ordinarily the owner file is deleted when you close a document. If Word
hangs, the system crashes, or you lose power, these temporary files will
remain and can be deleted with impunity when the file is not open; see

hello:
my customer has called this morning and says when she goes to open her

saved
word documents, there is the symbol ~$ in front of her documents. I have
seen this before on my unit also. Is this a backup document, or is this

when
a documents hasn't been closed properly? It showed up today but she was

out
of the office yesterday?
Thank you for your assistance.

steve
