How do I insert symbols (eg Yen, degrees, Euro) using alt commands if I don't
have a separate numeric keypad, just a keyboard because I have a laptop? |

go to insert symbol, highlight the symbol that you want, click shortcut key,

My understanding is that most laptops have a Fn key that converts some of
the regular keys to a numeric keypad. But there are other ways of inserting symbols; see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/InsertSpecChars.htm -- Suzanne S. You can try this shareware "OneFinger ToGet", it allows you use a
single key to do this. |
