Graham,
Thanks for your input! I used the suggestion referenced by the link, and also performed a "repair" function on Excel, and rebooted my machine, and it works fine now. Also, I usually do save my important e-mails to the hard drive (including the attachments). I don't usually save the attached files separately since they are attached to the e-mails. Thanks again for your input! I really appreciate it. Take care! Charles "Graham Mayor" wrote: How to re-register Word when problems crop up opening files http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ReRegisterWord.htm The above may not fix it because of Microsoft's security changes. It is not a 'workaround' to save to the hard drive, it is simply good practice. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Charles wrote: In the past, I have been able to open MS Word documents attached to e-mails with no problem. Now when I attempt to open these documents, for some reason it attempts to open in MS Excel (although I don't have Excel open). The only way I am able to open the attached Word document is to copy the Word file to a directory, go to Word, and open the file directly. Although this is a work around, it is cumbersome. Is anyone aware of a way I would be able to restore the ability of MS Word to open MS Word attached e-mail? Thanks to all that reply! Charles |
