You must be using Word 2003. See
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=827405 "You receive a 'This presentation cannot be edited because it contains a read-only embedded font' error message when you try to change or to save a presentation in PowerPoint 2002 SP3 or in PowerPoint 2003". The article addresses Powerpoint, but also applies to Word... when you read it, just substitute Word where it says Powerpoint, and document where it says presentation.
