That solution will not work in some instances. For instance, in Aphra Behn's
iThe Rover/i, there is a character named Willmore. If I add "willmore" to the dictionary, this is obviously going to mess things up. If I type: Willmore people be coming to the party? Word will recognize that as completely okay. There should be a seperate dictionary for names, but even that has it's flaws. Perhaps a "this is a name" option when right-clicked would do. Either way, the issue of names needs to be resolved. "Carol" wrote: Ben: If you don't want the spell checker to include the name, simply add it to your dictionary and then Word won't see it as something that is spelled incorrectly. When typing a name, such as Mr. Soandso, or: Soandso said ..., word should be able to recognize that the word is a name and so not spellcheck it. I don't think that this would be impossible given the amount of natural language processing research that has been done. Ben, I'm going to answer a question with a question. Do you suppose that you can determine which of these are correct without knowing the individual? Jeannine Jeanine Janine |
