Thanks Charles. Right now, I'm counting on finding a usable back-up version
in the office network back-up servers. The reason I posted the question to the forum was because somebody mentioned the fact that it is sometimes possible to go look at the revision history of a Word file but I'm not sure that applies in my case because I over-wrote rather than revised the file! bye, prasanna www.prasanna.org.in "Charles Kenyon" wrote: The only way I know of is retrieving a backup, if you have one. If you are going to try this, it is vital that you not open and edit the document that is there now until after you have done a restoration. I guess this is a long shot, but do you know of any way to retrieve an earlier version of a Word file that was mistakenly overwritten? The context -- I mistakenly replaced a recent version of a Word document with an older version while moving files across folders and am now stuck with a file that I don't need, while the much updated copy isn't accessible any more. Thanks. |
