Default Clicking on a Word document doesn't always open it in Word

Thank you for your input.
I am not using Norton but I did discover that another product was actually
the culprit. It is WOPR, a Word add-on. Once it was uninstalled everything
worked just like it should. Proof once again that there is always an answer
if you only dig deep enough and think through what is happening.

If you're using Symantec/Norton AntiVirus, try disabling the
Office Plugin that comes with it. See

programs with the Norton AntiVirus Office plug-in" for more
information.

When I double click on a Word document to open it in Word I see the virus
scan run and finish but the document doesn't always open up for editing. What
is strange is that this just started happening and it's not always
consistent. I can always open the document from the open folder selection
option so there is nothing wrong with the document itself.
Its as if the virus scan process is not passing the file name off to the
open dialog once the virus scan is finished.
I am using Word 2003 with all the latest patches.
I have run Word repair and that doesn't resolve the problem either.
Any other ideas or the answer is appreciated.
