When you open a word document, a temporary file is created in the same
folder that the document is contained within. When you attempt to open a document from a CD, word can not make the temporary file on the cd because word does not write to cd's (generally). So, you might try coping the file from the CD to the desktop and see if you can open it from there. -- Dawn Crosier Microsoft MVP "Education Lasts a Lifetime" This message is posted to a newsgroup.
