Hi,
I have a word form which i have created using MS Word 2003. Now this document is taking different time to load on different machines. On some computers it loads in fraction of second and some it takes for ever to load. I am trying to find out is there something to do with inidvidual computer speed or is there a problem with the word document having too many feature or something. FYI. the document has lot of tables in it. Don't know if tables takes long to load. Please reply if you know the answer. |

Hi ?B?UGl0dQ==?=,

FYI. the document has lot of tables in it. Don't know if tables takes long to load. The usual reason for a document loading slowly is when it can't find its template. If you open the document and look under Tools/Templates and Addins, you should see the template's path in the box at the top. Is it possible that this template can be found on some machines, and not on others? I tried to look under tools/templates and addins and it showed me some path
of the user who originally created the document. Somebody had created the base template before i got to work on it. when i tried to click the attach button it gave me the option to choose the normal template under template folder. so now since i don't know much about all this, what do i need to do to make sure of the correct path of the template? and do i need to make sure it is the same on all the user that will be using it? Yes, choose the Normal.dot if the document is to be used by many people AND the template is not located in some central store on the network. Also, you might want to give this link to your network administrator in order to alleviate this problem, generally. Well the document once done will be stored on some central location on
network from where everyone can access it. so does this make any difference since you mentioned to choose Normal.dot if the document is to be used by many people AND the template is not located in some central store on the network. As long as the template is always "visible" to the document, it could be either "Normal.dot" or a centrally stored template. Every user has access to a Normal.dot (Word demands it), so either way is "safe". If the template doesn't contain any toolbars, macros, AutoText, etc. that should be used with the document, I'd connect to Normal.dot...
