Keeping an excel sheet from showing up in a new word document

When going to File-New-Blank Document, it brings up a new blank document with an excel sheet in it. I have done the Detect and Repair option, uninstalled and reinstalled Office completely, but the excel sheet keeps showing up in new Word documents. Anyone have ideas on how to stop this? Where might there be a setting that is causing this? Any help and suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, John |
