Hi ?B?RGVl?=,
This has been standard behavior since Word 2000 or 2002 (I can no longer recall in which of these versions it was changed). There's unfortunately no way to change the default behavior in the user interface. Basically, there are two alternate approaches you can use to avoid having to make this setting "for every table": 1. Create AutoText entries, one for each basic kind of table you use regularly. Insert these instead of using the Insert/Table command 2. Use a macro to create your tables. The macro can turn off the behavior. Whenever I create a table as I type the cells resize as I type. I went into the table properties and changed the "automatically resize to fit contents" However that works for only that table. How do I make this change permanently. So that every table I create I don't have to tell word not to resize. This has only just started happening. Before I would create a table and the columns would not resize to fit the text. I tried changing in my norma.dot but once I delete the table and go into a document based on my normal.dot the cells resize to fit my text.
