This large space is for your question.

The answer depends on what your operating system is. Recent versions of
Windows have compressed folders (ZIP files) that you can store files in.
Create such a file, put your document in it, and send it as an attachment.

On the Mac OS, I used a utility called Stuffit to do the same thing.

Word documents should *always* be compressed before e-mailing, as they
contain lots of unwanted bulk and are frequently corrupted by the e-mail
process, as well as being rejected by antivirus measures. Furthermore not
everyone has access to broadband and large incompressed Word documents take
up lots of expensive bandwidth.
