Presumably the "stuff" that's being picked up has a heading style applied.
If you want headings that look the same but aren't picked up, create a new style identical to the heading one but not based on it (and with an outline level of Body Text). -- Suzanne S. I have formatted the titles that I want to appear, but when the toc is created, it is picking up a lot of "stuff" at the end of the document.
