Default Word 2003 Header/Footer Missing From View Menu

Given that you managed to get the whole of your original response into one
sentence without any punctuation to make it clear what you were trying to
say, the only thing that came through loud and clear was the suggestion to
delete normal.dot. Deleting normal.dot is, I repeat, bad practice. Renaming
it achieves the same ends without the inherent dangers of information loss.

Base on my personal experience for inexperienced users deleting
Nomral.dot is much easer than reinserting the missing command in
toolbars. You are right about customized Normal.dot and that's why I
asked him to make sure he doesn't have any specific customization in
his Normal.dot . As we see from his/her later postings IT might
altered more items than just header/footer so I still think My
suggestion is better approach in this particular case.

It is not a good plan to recommend that people delete normal.dot and
thus lose carefully derived settings, macros etc. You should always
*RENAME* so that the personalisations may be recovered. However in
this instance neither is necessary as Jay points out.

it someone has customized the toolbars if you don't have any
specific customized style or feature you can delete Normal.dor and
word will create a new Normal.dot next time you open a word
document with deafult settings also you can reinsert the command in
the view menu by right clicking on menu bar then customize in
commands tab find Auto text in categories textbox and then find
Filename and path in commands textbox then click on it and drag it
to the view menue

My boss asked me how to insert footer in his document. He is using
Word 2003. I know that Header/Footer is under View menu but his is
missing. I checked the word version and confirmed that it is 2003.
Where else do I find Header/Footer?
