I'm currently using Word for academic assignment assembly and current academic assessment rules allow exclusion of all academic citations from the word count. On large submissions I do not want to have to manually count all the words associated with citation and then deduct this from the word count total. Alternatively if I could highlight the text I do not want counted when initially inserted Word could accurately calculate the count for me.
