Default Form Fields - Referencing

I am running into a problem. I used the REF Text1 way of referencing
information across a form. The problem is...the REF field is in a footer...so
it doesn't seem to want to reference once the form is locked. How do I get
around this? I need the information from the top of the form to show in the
footer of every page...once the form is locked though...not only can it not
be filled in manually...it won't reference either!? Any suggestions!?

Instead of using REF (bookmark) fields, do this:

Unprotect the document and apply a unique character style to the form field.
Then insert a { STYLEREF "character_style_name_here" } field in the footer.
When you are done, protect the document again.

For more, see "Repeating form field data in a header/footer" in the article
at http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/StyleRef.htm.

Note: To insert a field, press Ctrl+F9; Word inserts field delimiters, { }.
Type the code as shown (using *your* style name, of course). Then press F9
to update. Use Alt+F9 to show/hide field codes in the document.
