If Word is started in Safe mode, does the problem still occur? Hold down
Ctrl as Word is being started, and say Yes to starting in Safe mode. (Another diagnostic would be to start Word using the /a switch.) A possibility... some add-ins, such as earlier versions of Adobe Acrobat Standard or Pro, make some kind of implicit change to the underlying template each and every time Word is started. I can't think of why this would affect only Ctrl+F4/Ctrl+W methods for closing, but it's something worth looking into, particularly if starting in Safe mode (or starting Word using the /a switch) "cures" the problem. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "Colin Eyton" wrote in message ... Have reinstalled XP and Office 2003 with all updates. still have same problem with this pc user has accepted that she cant use this method anymore and hence I'd close this thread, albeit unresolved |
