If you inserted the Title and Author fields and they are inserted into blue
controls, called Content Controls, then these are bound Property fields which update the Document Properties. IOW, you are using a single data field that will update to the current data value throughout the document and even in the File Properties. So any changes to an Author to Title field will be made throughout, even if you are using Section Breaks and unlinking the sections. You'd need to remove the content controls and add the data directly or see if Suzanne's suggestions meet your needs. Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. I am writing a rather long book and want to have certain details appear on every page at the bottom: Title - Author - Chapter - Page Number However, when I try to do this as per the MS recommended method, each time I change the footer in one chapter all the others change too. The 'section breaks' I created initially do not appear to be influencing matters. What could I be doing wrong? Is there a better way of achieving what I want? TIA |
