In word 2003, you could close one document just by clicking the X in that
document without closing word. There is no X in word 2007. To just close the document and not the program it appears you have to click the office button, scroll down to close and click. Is there an easier way? |

There is an "x" in Word 2007, at least on my setup. I've made a few changes and the "x" may be there because of those. Do you have the Word logo (stylized "W") to the immediate left of the Home tab? (I remember this was not there on the default setup? I'm not sure at this point what caused this to appear -- and whether this is what also causes the "x" close button to appear at the top right corner of each document.) David |

To see both X's, click the Office button (upper left corner), Word Options,
Advanced tab, and remove the check next to "Show all windows in the Taskbar" in the Display section. This also makes the Word logo appear (between the Office button & Home tab). -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "djprius" wrote in message ... Ctrl W will work in all word and excel files to close the doc or worksheet
and leave Word (Excel) open. "Barbara M" wrote: In word 2003, you could close one document just by clicking the X in that document without closing word. There is no X in word 2007.
