Default Remove toolbar from list and view (Word 2003)

You may also want to explore renaming or moving any add-ins that may be
generating the toolbar in the first place (if you don't need it inside
Word).

Check Tools Templates and Add-Ins and see if there's a dot file that's
being used to generate the toolbar. You can clear its check box. You can
also
find out where it's stored and rename it, or move it out of Word's Startup
folder.

Thanks for the suggestion, Bear. If I run into another stubborn one I'll
give that a shot. In this instance, even after I thought I had fixed it, it
_still_ came back. Then it occurred to me to close all open documents, open
normal.dot by itself, delete the bloody thing from the toolbars list, and
save normal.dot. So far, it hasn't risen from the dead again. ;-)
