Default tmp files -- ~$ and ~WRL###

While you may prefer not to see temporary files, it is always a good plan to
see what junk is being left behind when you close Word, (and other
applications) especially after a crash - see

What is Normal.dot btw if you don't mind my asking?

Thanks for the reply.

Just remember that when you go to look for Normal.dot, you'll need
to reenable that option.

Here I am answering my own question for anyone else who hits this
wall....

All you have to do is go into your folder toolbar -- click on

"tools" --
click on "folder options" -- click on "view" -- and under "hidden
files and folders" select "do not show hidden files and folders"

Hi everyone --

I have a question and I'm hoping someone might have a quick
answer.

Within the last few days my 2003 Word has been creating numerous
temporary files everytime I open or create a document. Sometimes
as many as eight will appear (with names such as ~WRL0003.tmp or
~$titleoffile -- all with lighter blue icons than the orig.
files in my folder) in the process of working on a Word file.
It's not causing any damage -- as far as I can tell -- but I'm
wondering if I must have changed the settings somehow to cause
this to happen. I'd rather not see all the temporary files that
Word is creating.

Anyone know what I'm talking about or have any ideas for getting
rid of all these visible tmp files in my folders?

Thanks for listening --
