When you save as a "Web page" in Word, you're not really getting anything
very well designed to be a Web page. You're getting an HTML document that can be viewed in a browser. The extra code included (unless you save as "Web page, filtered," and even that is still pretty messy) is intended to permit the file to be converted back into a Word document, retaining all its formatting. -- Suzanne S.
