Hi all.
I used to run Office 2000 but uninstalled it and installed Office 2007. When I run Word the Spell Checker does not function. When I try to run it, the computer tries to install it and then asks for the Office 2000 installation disks. I insert the Office 2000 disks but then it then says it can't find the MSI file. I have downloaded and installed the following but there is no difference latest version of the MSI file Office 2007 Service Pack 1 Word 2007 update (KB934173) I have scanned my hard disk for any remaining office 2000 files. In Add/Remove programs there is a option showing Microsoft Office 2000 but no remove option. I have uninstalled Office 2000 and 2007 several times and ran several registry cleaners. I have also noticed when I enter several websites, it asks for the Office 2000 installation disks. Any ideas anyone will be most gratefully appreciated. |

That's pretty bizarre... I don't have a perfect answer but these are the
things I'd try... a) Run Office Update (not Windows update) and install all available updates b) Reinstall Windows (rather drastic, but you have covered all other options) James -- Skype Me! for tech support (james.vandermoezel). Hi Mally,
When the installer asks for an MSI file what is the name of the MSI file it's looking for and at the bottom of the dialog where it asks what is the Product name it gives? Are there any 2000 series products listed in Add/Remove Programs? MS Works Suite included Office apps and Office 2000 Premium was a 4 CD set that included other apps besides the Office suite apps. The registry cleaner, unfortunately may have removed some entries that would appear in Add/Remove programs though. Does Office 2000 in Add/Remove programs have any choices for action on it? ============ "Mally" wrote in message ... Hi all. I used to run Office 2000 but uninstalled it and installed Office 2007. Hi Bob
Thanks for the reply. The name of the file asked for is "DATA1.MSI". When I put the windows 2000 disc in it still doesn't install. Why can't the spell checker not be installed from the office 2007 Disc? In Add/Remove programs there is an option showing "Microsoft Office 2000 Premium" but there is no choices on it i.e. repair, remove, etc. Regards Mally "Bob Buckland ?:-)" wrote: Hi Mally, When the installer asks for an MSI file what is the name of the MSI file it's looking for and at the bottom of the dialog where it asks what is the Product name it gives? Before reinstalling Windows, I'd simply do a repair installation of Office
2007. But before that, why not try using the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility? you can search for it at microsoft.com. Most of the time, when a program asks you for the installation disks, its because there are leftover installation files on the hard drive (occasionally, its because you are wanting to use an advanced function that didn't get installed). Not sure if this will work in Office 2007 but it sure did with 2003. -- Paul MS Office Pro 2003 XP Home Dell Inspiron 1501 "Mally" wrote: Hi all. Thanks for the reply. I have since tried that but it is unsuccessful. Regards Mally "Paul" wrote: Before reinstalling Windows, I'd simply do a repair installation of Office 2007.
