WD2003. I've just been asked to fix a doc where several Word and Acrobat
files were embedded in it. They now show as just pictures of the icons. The
fields behind them say { INCLUDEPICTURE "cid:image004.gif@... \*
MERGEFOMATINET } where I expected them to say something like { EMBED
Acro.Document}. I have just embedded a file in it just like that. What has
stripped out the embedded files and left just the empty icons?

I've found the answer to this question, but it raises another that I shall
post separately.
Convert a linked file to a graphic: select it and hit Ctrl+Shift+F9
