Default Word 2003 templates - Automatic detection of second page

We have a letterhead template designed with logos and address details plus
watermark etc. for the first page.
How can I modify the template so that a section break is automatically
entered at the end of the first page, if the letter goes beyond a one pager
and the "different first page header and footer" option is inserted from the
view header and footer, on the second page without requiring manual
intevention from the typist.
We have people who have managed to send multiple page letters, with all
pages still formatted as the first page.

You don't need a section break; just enable "Different first page" for the
existing section of the template. Then temporarily insert a page break and
add the contents of the main header and footer. Delete the page break before
saving the template. For more, see
http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/Letterhead.htm.

You don't need a section break, you need a different first page header in
your template. Insert a page break in the template and format the first and
subsequent page headers as you want them, then delete the page break before
saving the template.

Stefan, thank you. I was all around it but this gives me a clear and accurate
path.
Many thanks
