Default Copying Word file to CD writer

I am trying to copy a file orginally done in WORD 97 to my CD/DVD writer. I
recently upgraded to WORD 2003. When I copied the files and viewed them, the
characters are mostly squares and no words. How do I convert those old
files so I may see them on the CD?

File | Open: "Recover Text from Any File" is probably your best bet.

Chances are, the files got broken during writing on CD (I hope you did
not try to save them there _through Word_?).
