This is caused by opening the document in Reading Layout view. There is
nothing you can do on your end to prevent this except make suggestions: 1. You can suggest that the recipient not open the document directly from the attachment but rather save it to the HD first. Reading Layout view is used only for attachments opened directly. 2. You can suggest that, if the recipient wants to open the attachment directly, he can disable Reading Layout view (Tools | Options | General). 3. If all else fails, you can suggest that the recipient click in the TOC and press F9 to update it after switing to Print Layout or some other view. -- Suzanne S. Barnhill Microsoft MVP (Word) Words into Type Fairhope, Alabama USA "tenger" wrote in message news ![]() I'm using Word 2003. My Table of Contents works well. When I send the document to others (any other computer than mine) they open it up and all page numbers of the table are at page 3. I've also had them all at 50-something as well. They are able to manually update it (right clickupdate field but it doesn't come to them that way) I've tried regenerating the Table from scratch, copying all the text to another document (minus the last paragraph marker), nothing seems to work. Again, it's fine on my computer. I open it 20 times a day and the ToC is fine. Any thoughts or ideas? What am I missing? Thanks a lot. |
