Months of work and no back-up of the important files on your hard disk? At
the very least, you should have checked the option in Word to always create
a back-up copy. That would then contain the document as it had been saved
before the last time that you saved it.

What might have happened is that before you last saved it, you inadvertently
selected everything in the document and then pressed the space bar.

A professional data recovery service might be able to reclaim something for
you, but it probably won't be cheap and the success would depend on how much
the computer has been used since the last save.
