Default Speech stop responding not spellng

I have used the speech software in word 2003 with great success. It stoped
aftwr I remove a telephone headset (connectec to USB)on vpn.This headset
worked with Speech. I have a microphone now connected to the standard
connection. The speakers are working. so is the microphone using the test on
the control panel

This is not really a Word issue, however check Windows Control Panel Sound
And Audio Devices and check that the default sound recording device is your
microphone.
