Default automatic change to read only

Fairly often when I click the "save" icon on the toolbar, my document changes
automatically to a read only document. I can save to different name and get
around the problem, but it is time consuming and very annoying.

I have seen other questions in this community with the same problem
(although others also have the issue when keying "ctrl - S") , but have not
found any real suggestions to fix the problem.

Does anyone know how to make this stop?

Default automatic change to read only

I have the same question using Word 2003/Windows XP. Read only box in
property is unchecked and security tab indicates full control and it still is
read only and have to change file name everytime.
