I may have found the answer myself. In Page Setup I had set the vertical
alignment for the whole document to "center." I went back in and changed it to "top" and then I was able to move the clip art around freely. The only problem now is I have to take more time to make sure I have my text centered in the middle of the document instead of allowing Word to do that automatically. For me, my way around it was to right-click the Clipart, click Format Picture and the Layout tab. Click Advanced and in the Advanced Layout dialog box, set the Absolute vertical and horizontal position to whatever you want. When I insert clip art into a document, and then try to move the picture to some other area on the page, it goes everywhere but where I want it to go. I have formatted the layout to be behind text, and I've tried changing the horizontal alignment by deselcting "move object with text" and "layout in table cell" but still no luck. When I click on the object and then hit the up arrow on my keyboard, it moves down instead of up. If I try to click and drag it the little outline box appears to go where I want, but when I let go of the mouse button the clip art drops down about 2 inches below where I tried to place it. Any suggestions? |
